Kellan To Appear At Saturday’s Game

PEORIA, Ill. (October 21, 2009) – Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett Cullen in the Twilight movie series, will appear and sign autographs during the Peoria Rivermen game this Saturday. His appearance, presented by CEFCU – Your Credit Union – in association with Comcast, 97.3 RiverCountry, and the Peoria Journal Star E-Z Pay program, comes less than one month before the release of his latest movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

He will sign autographs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the concourse of Carver Arena. Autographs will be free of charge and color pictures of Lutz will be available to purchase for $5.

'Twilight' isn't Robert's only starring role

There's a downside to being an actor who has become an "overnight sensation." It actually didn't happen overnight.

While everyone thinks he suddenly popped up on the scene because of that big hit movie, in reality the actor has probably been toiling quietly away at thankless, underseen, sometimes just plain embarrassing roles waiting for that big break. And, once that big break happens, the folks who own those little-seen before-you-were-famous films are only too happy to cash in.

That's what's happening with Robert Pattinson, best known as vampire heartthrob Edward from the smash hit "Twilight" and the upcoming sequel, "New Moon." "New Moon" doesn't come out until Nov. 20, so DVD companies know Pattinson's fans are getting anxious to see him in action. And they're only too happy to oblige.

Which is how a British movie called "The Haunted Airman" suddenly found itself with a major DVD release last week. It aired on British television on Halloween night 2006 and was never heard from again, until some enterprising folks realized that it could make some money off "Twilight" now. The folks at Robsessedpattinson.com (incidentally, the domain name for Robsessedthomas.com is still available) noted that the original box cover art for "Airman" even used the same "Twilight" font.

To put it politely, the crossover interest for "Twilight" fans pretty much begins and ends with Pattinson's spectrally hunky presence. The rest of "Haunted Airman" plays like a bad Edgar Allan Poe knockoff, with little in the way of actual scares aside from some of the peskiest spiders this side of "Arachnophobia."

Pattinson plays a British airman named Toby Jugg who gets shot down during a bombing raid in the waning days of World War II. Paralyzed from the waist down and suffering psychological trauma, he's taken to the creepiest convalescent home imaginable, a remote British estate. Thanks to the magic of camera filters, the estate is perpetually dark, with the guests faces always shadowed, even, inexplicably, in direct sunlight.

Toby spends a lot of time smoking cigarettes and looking out into the distance, occasionally taking breaks to converse with the home's creepy doctor (Julian Sands). Toby starts having visions, including those spiders and war memories that look an awful lot like archival footage, and starts to wonder if he's going insane.

He wonders this for a long, long time, because nothing else really happens in "Haunted Airman," up until the abrupt ending. All props due to Pattinson, who is quite good as the patient who can't figure out if he's supernaturally haunted or just emotionally haunted. But he's given almost nothing to work with in a movie that screams "made for TV" in its quality.

And this is only the tip of the Edward iceberg; on Nov. 17, three days before "New Moon" hits theaters, we'll see the DVD release of "How To Be." It's another British film, this time a comedy starring Pattinson as a floppy-haired young man who hires a self-help guru to move in with him and fix his life.

Also floating out there without a firm DVD release date is "Little Ashes," a 2008 film featuring a pretty gutsy piece of casting - Robert Pattinson as surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Really? Twirly mustache and all? Kinda want to see that one.

New Moon's World Premiere: Countdown Begins

New Moon doesn't hit theaters until Nov. 20, but the red carpet will be rolled out four days prior for its star-studded world premiere.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and many others are expected at the invite-only event Nov. 16. Just as Summit did with Twilight’s premiere, there will be two screenings happening simultaneously at the Mann Village and Bruin Theatres in the Westwood neighborhood of L.A.

No Twi-fans have been spotted camping out in front of the theaters just yet, but why do we have a feeling that'll start happening sooner than later?

Robert Pattinson: "It's Kind Of Extraordinary"

Robert Pattinson became a star in last year's 'Twilight'. However, fame wasn't exactly what Pattinson expected it to be. In a new interview with TotalFilm.Com, the star talks about the overnight fame that has burdened the cast of the film - especially himself and co-star Kristen Stewart. The couple are constantly romantically linked in the press.

"I guess you try and stay Zen about it. You have to just learn to accept it." Pattinson says of the fame, "I guess the whole thing is, you don't want to wake up one day and realise you've turned into someone who you weren't before and it wasn't your choice."

In an earlier interview FanBolt had with Pattinson, he admitted to us that he didn't think he had changed that much since the film's release. "I don't know. I like to think I haven't changed that much. I mean, within myself I don't think I've changed." Pattinson explained, "It's kind of extraordinary. I don't think any of us expected this to happen. And especially it seems to keep building and building - the magnitude of this franchise."

Robert Pattinson: Being 'Harry Potter' Regular Would Drive Him 'Crazy'

'Twilight' star and onetime Hogwarts student is glad he's not tied to his franchise for 10 years.

Before Robert Pattinson was turned into "Twilight" vampire Edward Cullen, he made a brief stopover in a different book-based movie franchise with a cult-like following. He spent almost a year as Cedric Diggory, filming "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, and that was quite enough time at Hogwarts for him.

As RPattz comes close to wrapping principle photography on "Eclipse," he professed to be thankful to be part of the vampire saga rather than the boy-wizard one, because working on a single franchise for an entire decade would drive him nuts.

"The 'Harry Potter' I worked on was an 11-month shoot,'" the 23-year-old Brit said in an interview with TotalFilm.com. "I couldn't be doing that. I don't know how those guys stayed sane — they've been doing it for 10 years. I would go completely crazy."

Asked if he felt stifled by his own franchise, Pattinson replied, "Not really. I guess I have no choice right now — because I'm contracted to do them. But they're all going to be done quite quick. I'll have done three of the four by October of this year, then I'll only have one more to do."

Does that mean "Breaking Dawn," the final book in Stephenie Meyer's series, will in fact be one movie, rather than two, as has sometimes been rumored? That remains an open question.

In any case, while Pattinson couldn't imagine being a "Harry Potter" regular, his one-time co-stars have nothing but fond memories of the actor and would surely welcome him back into the franchise.

"He was always very intelligent, nice, talented, good-looking, had everything there," Watson told MTV News in July. "I'm not surprised he's been successful. I'm surprised that it's got this insane. I think he's a great actor."

Radcliffe said Pattinson's rise has provided him with a new perspective on his own fame. "It's really interesting for me, as somebody who is a central feature of a pretty huge franchise," he explained to us. "I have no concept of what 'Potter' looks like to the rest of the world because I'm so involved in it. So to watch 'Twilight' kind of explode globally had been fascinating."

Peter Facinelli

On Kristen and Robert on the set:

He says they all [the whole cast] get along and are like a little family. Says when he films with the "Cullens" he looks around at who's in the room and it's a bunch of people who make him smile.

"Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart can't even go out without being harassed by paparazzi or fans."

"They're very down to earth. They're very good actors too. They're really cool, and they're very chill. I mean, at certain times you can joke around and stuff. Really good to work with."
