Oscars: Would 'Twilight: Eclipse' Footage make you watch?

If, on Oscar night 2010, Robert Pattinson showed up, looking drop-dead sexy in a tuxedo, and premiered an exclusive first-look at The Twilight Saga: Eclipse live on the stage of the Kodak Theatre, would you tune in to watch? Matthew Belloni, a columnist at The Hollywood Reporter, proposes that this year’s Oscar producers do exactly that to help boost ratings for the annual awards show. It’s an intriguing idea, but would it work?

When Titanic won Best Picture in 1998 it was the highest-rated Oscars in history, and the ratings have trended downward ever since. Last year’s telecast got a makeover and a new host, Hugh Jackman, and got a 10 precent boost in ratings. Belloni thinks having, say, five stars premiere exclusive footage/trailers of their new films over the course of the Oscar evening would get you all fired up to watch again. (Apparently, when the MTV Movie Awards showed exclusive footage of New Moon earlier this year, ratings shot up 92 percent among the coveted youth audience.)

I think it’s fair to say that the Oscars would get a ratings boost from premiering Eclipse footage, but a) Would you keep watching after you got your Jac0b-Edward-Bella fix? and b) Are there any other movies on the horizon that you’d watch the Oscars just to see footage of? Spider-Man 4? Russell Crowe in Robin Hood? Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern?

Robert Pattinson! While some of you said you don't get the Robert Pattinson love, it's undeniable that he is the winner of the 2009 Sugar Award for hottest bachelor.

More than 40 percent of the votes went to the man also known as Edward Cullen, who beat out runners-up Chace Crawford, James Franco, and Ryan Gosling. Robert's technically single, but we have a feeling he might be seeing a certain someone. Oh well, he'll just have to stay in our vampire fantasies.

New Moon actor Robert Pattinson has been voted the star we'd most like to kiss under the Christmas mistletoe.
New Moon hunk Robert Pattinson beat stars such as Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and his fellow Twilight stars Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Kellan Lutz to top the survey by Park Christmas Savings to see who we'd most like to kiss under the mistletoe.

Robert Pattinson was the most popular choice securing 54 per cent of the votes cast.

Next up was Johnny Depp with 17 per cent and Brad Pitt was third with 10 per cent.

Taylor Lautner came seventh on the poll, which also saw X Factor winner Joe McElderry come in at fourth place.

That might make up for missing out on the Christmas number one spot!

Other X factor stars to make the list were Olly Murs and John and Edward - not forgetting judges Cheryl Cole and even Simon Cowell!

The weirdest choice on the poll went to those who wanted to kiss their dogs!
