Robert Pattinson preparing to leave Los Angeles to attend Cornell University

Plenty of Los Angeles scholars study at the Ivy League colleges, many at the very esteemed educational institution known as Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
But Robert Pattinson?
It's true. Well sort of true.
News yesterday (January 23) said that the Twilight star is in talks to play a a veterinarian student who studies at Cornell. This higher education stint is where the film "Water for Elephants" begins.
Based on Sara Gruen's best seller, the novel adaptation reportedly brings Pattinson together with Sean Penn in the upcoming big screen tale about a young man who looses his parents to a car accident, and subsequently, leaves Ithaca to join the circus.
Yes, peanuts are involved in this highly anticipated film where Academy Award-winning Penn takes the role of a very screwed up animal trainer. The role of Sean's wife is being played by sweetie Reese Witherspoon.
But back to college.
Cornell is one of the most highly identified college in the United States, an Ivy League member that sits high on a hill in Ithaca, New York. Set in a rustic, woodsy area, the campus claims a suspension bridge slung precariously over a stream some say is called the suicide bridge because certain scholars who couldn't take the pressure decided to jump into the gorge far below.
Not that Robert Pattinson would go to such drastic measures if he can't, say, get his lines down or get his accent right.

To be sure, the Twilight star will surely enjoy this lovely campus in a place that resembles the Scottish highlands when the film Water for Elephants reportedly goes on location to ithaca starting in June.  (Get your travel plans ready, Robert Pattinson fans!).  The college town is a lovely escape from urban chaos, with historical buildings of pariticular interest.
For instange, Sage Chapel -- built when the university bowed in 1865 -- is the epitomy of Ive Leage, In fact, the non-denominational place of worship designed by Charles Babcock, Cornell's first professor of architecture, has at times been covered in ivy. Consistent attributes include ceiling murals, elaborate brickwork, stained glass windows, and wall mosaics. With seating for 800, the arts and crafts movement chapel is the site for many student marriages, performed both during and after these scholars complete their studies at this venerable establishment.
Tours of Cornell are available from April through November when reserved in advance, and side trips to the beautiful Finger Lakes region (great fishing, ice skating) are worth considering when you visit this picturesque region of New York state.
